Juvenile Remidiation Curriculum

Project Overview
This is a 10-module psychoeducational curriculum developed in alignment with North Carolina’s Juvenile Capacity to Proceed legislation. The project aims to support youth aged 8–17 in improving their legal understanding and readiness to participate in court proceedings. The course was built in Articulate Rise and delivered through the Canvas LMS via SCORM integration.

Role & Responsibilities

I led the design of the overall course structure and supported the development of multimedia learning materials using Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline), Vyond, and Adobe Illustrator. I also conducted accessibility reviews across modules, including writing alt text and ensuring screen reader compatibility. I packaged and deployed the final modules to Canvas as SCORM packages for LMS delivery and tracking.

Design Solutions

One challenge we faced was balancing the course’s serious legal content with the developmental needs of a youth audience. I proposed using custom interactive activities built in Storyline, embedded within Rise, to increase engagement and scenario-based reasoning. I also designed a colorful, welcoming interface and incorporated animations to make the course more approachable and age-appropriate. These design strategies were adopted across modules to ensure consistency and learner-centered design.

Here are samples of work I completed independently:
Module Sample
This module mainly explains what might happen if the judge decides the youth committed the offense. There are animated Vyond video, scenario-based interactions, and custom illustrations to support learner engagement and clarity.

Storyline Activity Sample
This activity demonstrates how learners can support a character through positive choices. Each correct action unlocks a treasure chest with rewards, using gamification mechanics to boost engagement and motivation.
