👋 Hi again, I'm Fuqing!

I'm a curious, creative, and people-centered learning designer with a love for building joyful educational experiences. My journey has taken me from veterinary school to classrooms, from backstage sound booths to Storyline modules — and I've loved every step of the way.
🎓 My Academic Path
Zhejiang University – Veterinary Medicine
In undergrad, my love for animals led me to study veterinary medicine. But outside the lab, I found another passion — musical! I joined the musical theater club's first musical production (The Sound of Music) as both a sound designer and a performer. I’d sing onstage as a nun, then sprint backstage to run sound for the rest of the show. I later served as the theater club president for two years, leading a Chinese adaptation of Les Misérables. Those experiences taught me storytelling, teamwork, and what it means to care — all skills I now bring into my work as a learning designer.

UNC-Chapel Hill – MEITE Program (Learning Engineering)
Now I’m a graduate student at UNC in the MEITE program, where I focus on learning engineering. I currently works part-time in the School of Government, developing digital curricula for real-world learners. I’m especially passionate about bridging theory and practice, designing with empathy, and continuously improving through feedback and experimentation.
💻 Professional Experience
I’ve worked as a science teacher, curriculum developer, and currently as an instructional designer. In my recent role at UNC, I led the design of learning content for the Juvenile Remediation Project, creating interactive modules using Storyline and Vyond for youth involved in the legal system. Across every project, I strive to make learning clear, practical, and learner-first.

I’m deeply excited about the future of EdTech — especially the evolving role of instructional designers. I'm drawn to the power of e-learning to make education more inclusive, more adaptive, and more human. Whether I’m designing a chatbot, a course, or a prototype, I bring energy, empathy, and endless curiosity to the table.
🎨Outside of Work
When I'm not designing learning experiences, you’ll probably find me crafting something with my hands — folding origami, needle-felting tiny animals, or sculpting with clay. I also love photography, experimenting in the kitchen, and getting overly competitive at board games. Take a look at my crafts below!
